"MICHAEL CAINE" by MADNESS
(Released in January 1984 it reached number 11 in the UK charts)
We'll get ya ya ya
We'll get ya ya ya
(I am Michael Caine)
la la la la la la la la
He's walking where I'm afraid I don't know
I see the firemen jumping from the windows
There's panic and I hear somebody scream
He picks up useless paper and puts it in my pocket
I'm trying very hard to keep my fingers clean
I can't remember tell me what's his name
(My name is Michael Caine)
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
All I wanted was a word or photograph
All I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
The sun is laughing it's another broken morning
I see a shadow and call out to try and warn him
He didn't seem to hear just turned away
The quiet fellow follows
And points his finger straight at you
He had to sacrifice his pride, yes
And throw it all away
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
All I wanted was a word or photograph
All I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
His days are numbered he walks round and round in circles
There is no place he can ever call his own
He seems to jump at the sound of the phone
Staring out the window there's nothing he can now do
All he wanted was to remain sane
He can't remember his own name
(My name is Michael Caine)
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
All I wanted was a word or photograph
All I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
My name isn't Michael Caine. My name is
Roger Harris and I am merely one of Michael Caine's many fans. The only thing that makes me any different from the rest of Michael's fans is that I own the domain name
"www.michaelcaine.org"and have set up this web site dedicated to him.
Let me tell you a bit about myself. I am a 38 year old fan from Hereford in England. I am a big movie buff and have a large collection of film memorabilia. I am a big fan of Steve McQueen and set up an internet site dedicated to him.
The Steve McQueen Film Poster Site, as it is known, is now the largest McQueen site on the internet, with the number of hits now well over 200,000! If you want to check out my Steve McQueen site, click on the link below

Not only am I a big Steve McQueen fan, but I am, of course, a big Michael Caine fan! I want to set up a site for Michael that is as successful as my Steve McQueen site! Trouble is, setting up my McQueen site has taken literally 100's and 100's of hours over a long period of time (and Steve only made 28 films!) so it will take quite a while before I can do justice to Michael Caine, who has made nearly 100 films! Still, you have to start somewhere and from small acorns, mighty oaks grow! I want this site to grow into the biggest and best Michael Caine site on the internet.
I have been a fan of Michael all my life. My mother is from South London and was born within a year of Michael Caine, so she has always been a big fan of his, indeed, my whole family are fans. I have grown up with him. I first saw a Michael Caine film at the cinema around 1971 or 1972 when I was taken to see "Kidnapped" (and a cracking film it was too! - I love Michael's great speech at the end before he hands himself in to be hanged). However, the Michael Caine film that created the biggest impression on me was one that I saw on television a few years later called "Zulu". It still is my favourite Michael Caine film of all time and I can watch it again and again.
I love war films and Michael has been in some classics. Three of his best war films are "Too Late the Hero", "Battle of Britain" and "A Bridge too Far". Then there is his collaboration with Sean Connery in "The Man Who Would be King" - one of the best films ever made. Even my wife, (who hates films and anything to do with them) likes Michael Caine. Her favourite film of all time is "Educating Rita".
I once had the pleasure of meeting the Cainer himself. You can read about that by
clicking here He was as nice and down to earth as everybody says he is.
So let's face it. Michael is the man. England's biggest film star. Even his crap films are good - because he's good. Now, after years of neglect, he is at last being recognised for the brilliant actor and great star he is.
AND IT'S ABOUT
BLOODY TIME!
Thanks for all of those brilliant films, Michael! This web site is dedicated to you
